So this is my first post.
I've never made a blog before, so hopefully I don't screw it up. The whole purpose of this blog is to explain my process of "eating local" for my Anthropology of Food final project. I was thinking of simply making a powerpoint, but one option was to create a blog, so I thought I would give it a try.
I'm not planning on actually starting my week of eating local until Monday, July 5th, since starting on the weekend of Independence Day doesn't seem smart.....I don't want to put it off any longer though, since this class is so short. We're almost half-way through it already!
Anyway - this weekend my goals are to visit a farmers market in Seattle, most likely the University District one since that is most convenient. It will actually be "killing two birds...." because we have another assignment of doing participant observation at a farmers market. I also decided to shop for some local, natural, organic, etc. food products at a PCC market in Seattle, since they seem to be aligned with the Eat Local movement. I will be making a specific shopping list though-I really cannot afford to shop there normally and I might get carried away if I just wander aimlessly in the store. It's like going into Trader Joe's with a cart rather than a basket.
So here goes being a trendy, young Seattlite! I better sit with my laptop at a coffee house too :P
